Product Engineer (Engineered Materials Solutions, LLC; Attleboro, Massachusetts): The Product Engineer will provide direct product engineering function and technical support to the manufacture of clad metal strip products. Specific duties of the position include: develop new clad metal products specifically to meet customer needs; design, implement, manage and control all phases of product development and provide continuous improvement; maintain and improve existing clad metal products at model profitability and manufacturing yields; apply technical knowledge and acquired engineering skills to develop new clad metal products and the processes to manufacture them; solve complex material product design and process control problems; develop, manage and implement cost reduction and product yield improvement programs; implement new manufacturing methods and technologies into clad metal strip products; solve complex product quality and process problems; lead and direct cross-functional teams to improve supplier/internal/customer quality, reduce product costs and develop new products; direct lab resources for material characterization and sample production; provide technical support to key suppliers, customers and visit as required to resolve issues; and provide engineering technical support across 7 x 24 manufacturing operations, as required. Minimum requirements: Master’s degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Will also accept a Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field plus 5 years experience in strip metals processing in lieu of a Master’s degree. Must also have: (1) Demonstrated technical background with metal coatings; properties and processing of copper alloys, steel alloys, nickel alloys and aluminum alloys; theory of inter-metallics formation (2) Demonstrated understanding of Material Characterization including Microstructural analysis using Optical Microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Energy Dispersive X-Ray Analysis (EDAX); Bulk property analysis using ASTM Test methods including Fatigue Testing, Tensile Testing, Impact Testing and Hardness Testing (3) Demonstrated computer skills with MATLAB, AutoCAD, and MS Office; (4) Must be capable of leading a technical team and clearly communicating objectives, plans, actions, and project requirements; and (5) Preparation of technical research papers and presentation at professional societies and/or industry conferences.
